Through some massive string pulling and coordination my company was able to negotiate a ride on Pleasure Island’s premier sport fisher, the Miss Celeste. The Miss Celeste is a 101′ yacht on which I’ve been trying to get a charter for the last few years. I’ve decided however to name our day the “2007 Memorial Day Weekend Vomit Cruise.” Of the 19 guests on the boat, 6 didn’t end up hurling groceries over the gunnel at some point during the day. I was one of the 6 but not for the lack of trying. I say every time I go out on a charter fishing trip it is the last one I’ll ever take but — it never happens. I’ll be out on another one soon I’m sure but I’ll be investing in some industrial strength Dramamine before boarding this time. I think a nicer day would have caused the vomit/not vomit ratio to have been much better but regardless it was a great day. Joe Jernigan cause the biggest fish of the day, a 16lb Red Snapper, which was one of 38 Red Snapper, a pretty large grouper, and several other various fish that made it to the cooler. It was too rough to do very much photography during the day however I was able to get a lot of pics going out and coming back in. Click here to enter the photo gallery for the trip.
