Our latest trip with the camper took us to a place about 70 miles north of Chattanooga Tennessee nestled way back in the hills – a state resort park called Fall Creek Falls. It’s several thousand acres of beautiful, thick canopy tree cover with three waterfalls, hiking trails, multiple campgrounds, a very large lake feeding the park’s namesake waterfall, and for the non-camper there are several lakeside cabins and an inn. It has been many years since I’ve been to this state park and it was really great to get back to it after all this time. I took many pictures of the park while there plus many from a trip to Chattanooga to see the Tennessee Aquarium. There are 6 separate sub-galleries to choose from numbered part 1 through part 6. These are in chronological order from our arrival until we left. Click here to enter the galleries – Enjoy!

We loaded up the family this past weekend and headed for Stone Mountain Park. It’s about 20 miles east of the I-285 perimeter on U.S. Highway 78, if you’re driving that direction you can’t miss it – it’ll be the great big bald rock on the side of the road. Camping there was a great experience – the woods were so thick I couldn’t even open the camper’s canopy completely. The space we were given had a nice little stone-walled area that was great for our little girl to play around on while staying out of the road and out of danger. The space was also really close to the lake where we were able to see a lot of wildlife as well as many tour boats and some interesting amphibian craft in action all day. We took the new camper to the Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, AL the week of July 4th for it’s official christening. We had a lot of enjoyment despite the July heat and humidity. We stayed lakeside which was about a 150 foot walk to the water where we could fish, crab, and even see some alligators. There were several boats in Lake Shelby (also known as tea lake due to the color the vegetation renders it) pulling skis and other flotation devices.
